We’re a lean, ambitious team with experience in AI, defense, product strategy, and secure system design. We are now hiring our first AI Research Engineer to help push the boundaries of multilingual, explainable, real-time AI.
The role
As AI Research Engineer, you’ll design, develop, and evaluate AI systems that combine state-of-the-art modeling (e.g. LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, real-time learning) with robust explainability and security features. You will contribute to core product features while leading experiments that explore new capabilities and architectures. Your work will feed directly into Sentro’s research roadmap and mission-critical deployments.
What you’ll do
Research, prototype, and build explainable, privacy-preserving AI systems, grounded in real user needs.
Extend and adapt SOTA ML/AI methods for low-latency, multilingual dialogue, document understanding, and reasoning tasks.
Work hands-on with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data to improve real-world performance and trustworthiness.
Collaborate across disciplines (design, engineering, strategy) to turn research into product features.
Contribute to EU research programs by developing and publishing new methods aligned with mission needs.
You should apply if you
Have a MSc or PhD in AI, machine learning, computer science or a related field, with a strong track record of implementing and evaluating advanced systems.
Love reading, re-implementing, and building upon recent papers—especially around LLMs, explainability, or multilingual NLP.
Have strong software engineering skills in Python, and familiarity with other languages like Rust, C++, or Java is a plus.
Are excited to contribute to the open research agenda around privacy, explainability, and dual-use AI.
Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical collaborators and users.
Value autonomy, clarity, and impact over hierarchy or process.
Bonus points if you have
Publications in conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ACL, or ICCV.
Experience with on-device ML or optimizing AI systems for edge/mission deployment.
Interest or background in defense, privacy, or security-related domains.
Experience in synthetic data generation, continual learning, or RLHF.
